The Martian Extended Cut Will Feature 10 Minutes of Extra Footage
20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has officially announced The Martian: Extended Edition Blu-ray. They've also revealed the awesome cover art, special features, and the release date!
Ridley Scott's The Martian, which starred Matt Damon (Jason Bourne) in the lead, was one of the biggest critical and commercial successes of 2015. The film earned seven Academy Award nominations, including nominations for Best Picture & Best Actor, and three Golden Globe nominations, which resulted in two wins. At the box office, the film was a massive success, earning over $629.3 million worldwide ($228.4m domestic, $400m foreign).
After months of vague rumors and reports, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has finally confirmed that an Extended Edition for Ridley Scott's critically acclaimed The Martian is hitting DVD, Blu-ray, and Digital HD on June 7, and it’ll feature an extended cut of the film with 10 minutes of extra footage not shown in theaters.
In addition to the new footage, the extended edition will feature two hours of bonus materials, including an audio commentary from Scott, screenwriter Drew Goddard and author Andy Weir, as well as some science goodness including a documentary on the science behind recreating Mars, interviews with NASA engineers and specialists, and a Q&A panel discussion about NASA’s real-life plans for the journey to Mars.
The Martian arrives on Digital HD, DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD on June 7, 2016. Check out the specs below.
